In Jules Alexander left the group to study meditation in India, returning to the group he had helped found in early He continued recording & touring with the group until leaving the group in early In September , when the group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, he joined former members at the induction ceremony in Niles, Ohio. Jules Gary Alexander (born September 25, ) is an American Musician, Songwriter, and Arranger. He is well remembered for being a founding member of the pop group The Association.

Alexander was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and moved to California with his family as a teen.

Alexander was an optical technician in the navy based in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, ,[1] when he met salesman Terry Kirkman. The two became friends and promised to meet up when Alexander was discharged.

A year later, Alexander discharged, and they started a band called the Inner Tubes, that played at the Troubadour nightclub in West Hollywood.[1] The band's personnel constantly changed, with some of its members including Cass Elliot (later of the Mamas & the Papas) and David Cro

 In , The Association® made history being the first band anywhere to open a rock festival - the now historic, Monterey Pop Festival.

One of the most successful bands to come out of the 60’s, they have sold millions of records, tapes, CDs and DVDs as well as earned a number of achievements including a Golden Globe nomination in for Best Original Song -Goodbye Columbus.

Tenor, plays guitar and keyboards.  An original member, Jim rejoined the group in   His brother Jerry, is a member of The M.F.Q. and The Lovin’ Spoonful.  The brothers were a folk duo, The Yesteryears in the early 60’s.  He lives in New Jersey.
