Joseba Eskubi (n. ) es un artista contemporáneo español radicado en Bilbao, España, reconocido por sus expresivas pinturas al óleo, donde fusiona abstracción y figuración. Su trabajo se caracteriza por un trazo intuitivo, composiciones fluidas y técnicas mixtas en capas, creando una estética onírica y orgánica. El arte de Eskubi evoca formas amorfas y palpitantes, que parecen cobrar vida, y a menudo se compara con los mundos oscuros y místicos de Goya, Velázquez y Hieronymus Bosch.
En , participó en la prestigiosa exposición colectiva organizada por Saša Bogojev en la galería Albertz Benda de Nueva York. En , Eskubi presentará su primera exposición individual con MEPAINTSME Gallery, mostrando sus nuevas obras abstractas e invitando al espectador a sumergirse en un mundo de formas fluidas y profunda resonancia emocional.
Eskubi también es profesor de pintura en la Universidad del País Vasco, y trabaja desde su estudio cerca del Museo Guggenheim de Bilbao. Su uso audaz del color, especialmente en tonos rojos, violetas y rosados, recuerda la intensidad expresiva de Francis Bacon y Philip Guston.

It is an equally strange world that can be found in the work of Bilbao-based Spanish artist Joseba Eskubi, though his is one that is attached to reality by the thinnest of threads. Known for his weird and wonderfully amorphous forms, Eskubi is an artist whose imagery is highly evocative whilst never quite becoming the things it evokes. What might be suggestive of a butterfly could also call to mind a ballerina’s dress, the body of an insect might also be a precious item of jewellery, what might be perceived as a bird could equally be an ornament. Curious clumps of matter are presented in surprising configurations, the organic and the inorganic intertwined in such strange ways that the viewer can never be entirely sure if they are looking at something living, something that once lived, or something that has never been alive. They are neither fish nor fowl. There is also the rather disturbing possibility that the things he paints have been brought to life by unnatural means – as if through magic or witchcraft. Der baskische Künstler Joseba Eskubi lässt in seinen kleinformatigen Bildern aus dicken, gestisch angelegten Farbmassen Figuren/Körper/Objekte entstehen. In seinen so genannten "Collagen" stecken unter diesen Lawinen von Farbmassen Fotografien - unter anderem von Hunden.
Meist teilt ein Horizont die zwei Farben des gleichmäßig angelegten Hintergrundes. Erschafft Eskubi damit in unserer Vorstellung das "Draußen" von abstrakt anmutenden Landschaften, in denen Körper und Knäuel, wie vom Himmel gefallen, herumliegen? Oder malt er ein "Drinnen", eine Art Bühnenraum, in dem Figuren wie Silhouetten vor dem Hintergrund aufragen?
Seine gemalten "Objekte" - es sind zumeist organische, weiche, amorphe Formen in Zersetzung oder Bewegung, rätselhaft, mystisch, unruhig - sind in unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen zwischen Figuration und Abstraktion angesiedelt. Dabei versucht der Künstler jedem Bild eine eigene Atmosphäre, einen eigenen Charakter wie bei einem Porträt einer bisher unbekannten Sache zu verleihen.
