Biography of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, a prominent and influential contemporary fashion designer, was born in Casablanca, Morocco. In the mids, he moved to France with his parents. As a descendant of crusader knights, Castelbajac spent his childhood in a strict religious boarding school. It was at the age of 17 that he created his first sketches and drawings of clothing, realizing his passion for fashion.
Upon arriving in Paris, Castelbajac rented a tiny room and began selling his peculiar drawings for francs. People mistook him for a bohemian artist, and his unique artworks sold well, despite his unknown status at the time. He went on to work as a stylist and designer for various fashion companies before being hired by Raymond Levy. Together, they established a Parisian studio. By , Castelbajac had opened his own fashion business.
In the s, Castelbajac became one of the creators of the "sportswear" trend, designing clothing for active leisure. Alongside his own collections, he also developed the "Sportmax" line for the Italian company "Max Mara."

Biography
In , Jean-Charles de Castelbajac founded the Ko ready-to-wearfashion firm in Limoges along with his mother, Jeanne-Blanche de Castelbajac.
Starting in , he worked as a freelance fashion designer for various firms such as Reynaud, Pierre dAlby, Max Mara, Levi-Strauss, Jesus Jeans, Hilton, Ellesse, Carel Shoes, Etam, Gadging, Julie Latour, Fusano, and Amaraggi.
He held his debut fashion show in Paris in and was recognised for his avant-garde designs for womens clothing. His creations featured unconventional materials such as canvas, blankets, plastic, automobile upholstery, parachute cloth, cheesecloth, and leather.
He founded his line of womens clothing in Paris in Between , he opened boutiques in Paris, New York, and Tokyo. In , he was appointed as the director of Société Jean-Charles de Castelbajac in Paris.

JCDC has never been a conventional designer, always daring to disturb, disrupt, and promote artistic chaos.
