You can recover an unsaved Excel document:
To do this, click on "File" in the ribbon and on "Manage workbook" in the "Information" area.
You can use the “Restore unsaved workbooks” menu item to find the unsaved Excel files and restore them.
Excel places the unsaved changes in the C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles folder.
You also have access to the files there.
Automatic saving protects against data loss
Excel uses its own data backup, which automatically saves your intermediate status at regular intervals. However, you must activate these:
To do this, go to the "File" tab and click on "Options".
In the next window, select "Save" and check the "Save AutoRecover information every" box.
Enter the desired interval at which Excel should save the data.
Check the option "Keep the last automatically saved version when closing without saving".
Then it will be easier to restore the last used Excel file when the program exits unexpectedly.

If your Excel file disappeared
Sudden power failure can cause your Excel spreadsheet not to be saved and probably disappear from your computer. Also, if Excel is not responding and then it is forced to close, the current spreadsheet being worked on may not be saved. However, there are ways to retrieve unsaved Excel spreadsheets.
Method 1: Find the temporary file and recover it
Unsaved documents and files are usually saved in a hidden sub-folder in the AppData folder. You can find your unsaved Excel document here: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles. Or you can follow the steps below.
- Open Excel, and click on "File" in the menu bar.
- Go to Info >> Manage Versions >> "Recover Unsaved Workbooks".
- Select the unsaved spreadsheet and click the "Open" button.
- Press F12 or click "Save As" and save the file.

Spreadsheet Has Disappeared!
Not come across this before, but a spreadsheet I use regularly now appears to open, but does not appear, although it does show that I am in a particular cell.
When I exit excel it asks me if I want to save the worksheet, as normal.
I have closed all other worksheets and tried again, and rebooted the laptop.
Any help appreciated.

Hi thanks for that suggestion, I clicked unhide and it looked like it did it, and the windows boxes are all shown as per the spread sheets I can view, but I still cannot see it - any other ideas?

Thanks for all your help on here - I have just gone back into the spreadsheet and it is now working. Maybe the unhide I did only works when you go back into the spreadsheet?
