Hans Ledwinka – the inventor of the world-renowned Tatra concept – was born years ago. He was responsible for numerous patents and model designs, and today's TATRA vehicles are still based on his pioneering chassis concept.

In the early years of motoring, a number of Central European car designers and engineers – originally working independently of each other – joined forces to make a major contribution to the development of automotive technology.
Hans Ledwinka was responsible for almost all the ground-breaking technical solutions pioneered by TATRA, the oldest Czech automotive producer (and today the only Czech-owned producer of motor vehicles), during the first half of the 20th century.
Ledwinka was born on 14 February in the Austrian town of Klosterneuburg. He was proud of his Austrian nationality. He was a German-speaker, and he never managed to learn any Czech; instead he expected everybody to speak German to him. However, he was always willing to recognize excellent work from members of his team – whatever their nationality.

KAD GOVORIMO o velikanima autoindustrije, imena poput Ferdinanda Porschea ili Henryja Forda odmah nam padaju na pamet. No, postoji jedan čovjek čije su inovacije bile ključne za razvoj modernih automobila, a danas je gotovo zaboravljen – Hans Ledwinka.
Njegov rad na automobilima marke Tatra, revolucionarne inovacije poput središnjeg okvira i zračnog hlađenja motora te kontroverzni odnos s Porscheom oblikovali su povijest automobilizma.
Hans Ledwinka rođen je veljače u Klosterneuburgu, tada dijelu Austro-Ugarske Monarhije (danas Austrija). Već kao mladić pokazivao je talent za strojarstvo, što ga je dovelo do studija tehničkih znanosti. Njegova karijera započela je godine kada se zaposlio u tada mladoj češkoj tvrtki Nesselsdorfer Wagenbau-Fabrik (kasnije preimenovanoj u Tatra). Tu je vrlo brzo pokazao svoju genijalnost i bio je ključni čovjek u razvoju modela Nesselsdorf Type A, jednog od prvih automobila u srednjoj Europi.

Der &#;Tatra Veteran Car Club Koprivnice&#; feiert dieses Jahr 50 Jahre seines Bestehens. An der traditionellen Rallye mit Ziel in Koprivnice haben über Tatra Oldtimer aus Tschechien, Slowakei, Österreich und der Schweiz teilgenommen. Es waren mehr Teams als in den letzten Jahren. Es wurde den Akteuren nicht einfach gemacht, denn die Meinung vieler Menschen war, leider auch von öffentlichen Funktionären, dass Hans Ledwinka ein Nazidiener gewesen sein sollte. Ledwinka wurde von den Kommunisten tatsächlich verhaftet und auf Grund konstruierten Verschuldens und folgender Anklage in einem Schauprozess mehrere Jahre ins Gefängnis gebracht.
Ledwinka hatte sich nichts zu Schulden kommen lassen. Dies bewies die spätere Revision des Urteils. Er wurde in allen Punkten der damaligen Anklage vollständig rehabilitiert. Leider verblieb über seine Karriere als Konstrukteur ein Schatten. Nach jahrelangen Bemühungen des Oldtimerclubs Koprivnice, seiner Präsidentin Frau A. Cipova und des emeritierten Direktors des lokalen Tatra-Museums wurde für Hans Ledwinka eine
