Starting his career as a music composer from the film Abhay (The Fearless) (), Vishal soon emerged into a good director, screenwriter, producer, and playback singer. Vishal Bharadwaj was born in a Brahmin family on 4 August (Age: 58 years, as of ) in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father, Ram Bharadwaj was a sugarcane inspector and his mother was a homemaker. His father also wrote lyrics and poetry for Hindi films. He completed his primary education from Najibabad, later, his family moved to Meerut and Vishal started to playing cricket for the State&#;s Under team. He could not pursue his career in cricket because his thumb broke during a practice session. When he was 17 years old, he composed a song. When his father heard that song, he got very impressed and discussed it to the music director, Usha Khanna. She used that song to the film, Yaar Kasam (). Vishal Bhardwaj is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, music composer and playback singer. He is known for his work in Hindi cinema, and is the recipient of eight National Film Awards and a Filmfare Award.
Bhardwaj made his debut as a music composer with the children's film Abhay (), and received wider recognition with his compositions in Gulzar's Maachis (). He received the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award for New Music Talent for the latter. He went on to compose music for the films Satya () and Godmother (). For the latter, he garnered the National Film Award for Best Music Direction.
Bhardwaj made his directorial debut with the children's film Makdee (), for which he also composed the music. He garnered widespread critical acclaim and numerous accolades for writing and directing the Indian adaptations of three tragedies by William Shakespeare: Maqbool () from Macbeth, Omkara () from Othello, and Haider () from Hamlet. Blood Brothers ( Indian film)
Blood Brothers is a short film on HIV-AIDS directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film, written by Matthew Robbins, is one of the short films made on HIV-AIDS on behalf of the Bill Gates foundation.[1]
Blood Brothers features Siddharth, Pavan Malhotra and Ayesha Takia in lead roles.[citation needed] Vishal chose cinematographer Guillermo Navarro to shoot his film. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.[2]
Plot[edit]
The film revolves around a successful advertising campaign manager named Arjun Dutt (Siddharth). During a routine medical check-up, he discovers that he is HIV positive. He is totally devastated. Instead of facing the truth and telling his pregnant wife and son, he runs away from his home and job.
While wandering like a beggar through the trains, he is robbed by a group of thugs who beat him up and leave him for dead. Then a doctor (Pankaj Kapur) takes him to his hospital. After coming to his senses, Siddharth tries to go but is stopped by the doctor. The doctor conducts another test to find that Siddharth is, actually, HIV negative.
